2024 Year in Review – Our Top 10 Highlights

Angel Investors Durham (AID) had an exceptional 2024, growing into Ontario’s fastest-growing angel investment group. From groundbreaking investments to impactful mentorship and community-driven initiatives, we are proud of our achievements. Here is a look at our top ten highlights from the past year.

Unlike many angel groups, AID fosters an open-door policy, allowing founders to attend investment meetings to learn and grow even if they are not pitching.

6. A Thriving Membership of Local Investors

Almost 80 percent of AID’s accredited investor members are based in Durham Region. Our network of investors, businesses, and organizations continues to expand, reinforcing our commitment to supporting startups locally.

7. Elevating Founder Education

Our Angel Academy sessions continued to grow in 2024, and we filmed a new AID Education Series in collaboration with Kleurvision Inc. and sponsors at Durham College. The series will launch in early 2025, providing critical insights for founders raising capital.

8. Built by Passionate Volunteers

AID is driven by dedicated volunteers, including our Executive Director, Marketing Director, and Dealflow Lead. Their contributions have been instrumental in fostering a stronger startup ecosystem in Durham Region.

9. Investing in Community Impact

AID is the only angel investment group actively collaborating with community organizations to support vulnerable populations. Our focus extends beyond investments—we are working toward building a more inclusive and supportive entrepreneurial landscape.
